Hum Buggers Beware!

December is here!  We are a couple of weeks away from Christmas Day.  I'm really looking forward to the upcoming holiday for several reasons.

At the top of my list....my daughter and her fiancé will be here for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the first time is several years.

I'm also looking forward to the holidays because I've pretty much finished my shopping, and decorating - so the stress is off there! I even have everything wrapped and under the Christmas tree!

Yesterday, mom and I went out in the crowds and had such a great time!  I think she was having fun because I could help her with gift ideas  (and be her Sherpa).  I was smiling all the way because anything I bought was just a bonus gift.  No pressure!

There are probably those of you out there who don't understand my elation.  You are the ones who finished your shopping in August, bought your special items on sale, and mailed your Christmas greeting cards December 1st.  My joyful attitude is because I'm usually not so timely. You could even say I'm very behind! I'm a procrastinator and a Virgo. ( I think that's an oxy-moron.)  This year,  I don't what came over me but I like it!

My husband and I are hosting a couple of Christmas gatherings at our house and I've already written out the menu!  We're keeping things pretty simple and that's just adds to my joy!  (If the get-togethers start to stress me, I'm a firm believer in eggnog with rum to mellow things out!) Our family gatherings will be filled with yummy food, games and drinks in pretty glasses with Christmas swizzle sticks!  We do a small gift exchange that gets everyone giggling when their gift is 'stolen' , and then stolen again.  We'll take some pictures, tell slightly exaggerated stories of our childhood, and remember the good times of past. Then we'll move on to topics of days to come.

There are plenty of reasons to complain about holiday happenings, but right now all I can think is how Ebenezer Scrooge got it right in the end.  The joy of Christmas should be shared!  It will make your heart lighter!

Merry Christmas Everyone and let's pray for a great 2009!
